That being said, it seems like we’re in for some Xperia-branded devices in January, well, at least according to the latest info. You might recall that Sony-branded G3112 and G3121 smartphones passed through the European Economics Commission recently, and initially, we thought these phones are meant to launch during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February, but it seems like we might see them hit the market sooner than that. According to a Weibo tipster, these two phones will ship with 5-inch, 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch variants, and the source also mentions that you can expect to see 4GB of RAM here, though it’s unclear whether he’s referring to both devices, or just one of them.
In any case, the 5.5-inch model is actually expected to ship with a 4K display, at least according to the source. Now, some of you probably already know this will not be Sony’s first 4K device, as the company had introduced the Xperia Z5 Premium a while back. The Xperia Z5 Premium sports a 4K display, but the phone is not taking advantage of its 4K resolution at all times, as that would kill the battery, it only fires up all pixels if you’re watching 4K content on it. Having that in mind, the source also mentions that the aforementioned devices will launch during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas which is going to take place in January. This would certainly be a different approach from Sony, as the company is not usually releasing smartphones at CES
